
David Gaschen is a world-renowned vocalist and performer with a distinguished career in musical theater, concert performance, and recording. A graduate of the Texas Tech University School of Music, he earned his degree in Vocal Performance under the instruction of John Gillas.
In May 1995, David was cast as the Phantom Alternate in the original Swiss production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera. At just 26 years old, he became the youngest performer ever cast in the role. He was subsequently invited to reprise the role in the German production in Hamburg, where he performed as the Phantom more than 1,000 times.
In the summer of 1999, David joined the Broadway company of The Phantom of the Opera, making his Broadway debut in November of that year. To date, he has performed the iconic role more than 1,300 times. While he is deeply connected to the Broadway stage, David later expanded his career into the concert and recording arena.
David has performed internationally in more than 40 symphonic engagements, appearing with ensembles such as the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, Santa Fe Chamber Orchestra, Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, Longview Symphony Orchestra, Brazosport Symphony Orchestra, Midland Symphony Orchestra, Filarmónica de Jalisco in Guadalajara, Mexico, and many others. He has also presented more than 100 solo concerts throughout the United States and abroad, including performances for the National Association for Adoption Gala in Washington, DC.
As a recording artist, David has released several solo albums, including David Gaschen, Let Me Sing and I’m Happy, and David Gaschen: A Celebration of Christmas. He is also featured on Broadway’s Fabulous Phantoms, alongside Howard McGillin, Hugh Panaro, and Michael Crawford.
In 2016, David fulfilled a lifelong dream by performing the role of the Phantom in his hometown of Lubbock, Texas, with Texas Tech Opera Theater and Lubbock Moonlight Broadway. In 2020, he was invited to present a TEDx talk on faith and life as a performer.
Proud of his West Texas roots, David was inducted into the Buddy Holly Walk of Fame in 2006 for outstanding contributions to music and received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Texas Tech University in 2018.
Now residing in Frisco, Texas, David serves as Artist-in-Residence at Stonebriar Community Church and operates the David Gaschen Voice Studio, where he teaches more than sixty students.
David considers his greatest achievements to be his son, Andrew, and his daughter, Molly Marie. He is deeply grateful to God and to his wife, Jeanne, for their unwavering love and support.
